The business-to-consumer (B2C) group is a much newer area and largely equates to electronic retailing over the Internet. This category has expanded greatly in the late 1990s and played a large role in the rapid development of the commercial Internet in the late 20th century and will reap rewards over the next five years from 2009.  Large sums of venture capital flowed to consumers in the form of free online services and discounted shopping, spurring adoption of the new medium.
